Hindu Multifaith Day
Date(s):
April 20, 2008
Start Time:
3:30pm
End Time:
8:00pm
Theme: Hindus believe that we are born into the world with the mission of finding our way back to God from whom we came. God, whose greatest creation is a human being, has offered us many paths to seek him. An ancient holy text, the Bhagavad-Gita, offers instructions in three parts: knowledge (Jnana), action (Karma), and devotion (Bhakti). We will try to understand the spiritual aspirations and philosophical underpinnings of these paths.
Leader: Professor Emeritus at Uniform Services University for the Health Sciences, Prabir Chakraborty is also an ordained Brahmin priest. He is also a scholar of Hindu philosophy, which is unusual for a priest. This gives him deep insight into the rituals and ceremonies of his religion.
